9" preload question?
I'm setting the preload on my 9" OEM style pinion support and using a spacer and shims not a crush sleeve. New bearings.
The closest I can get it is 13in-lb with a .005" shim. And 24in-lb with a .004" shim. Both at 200lb-ft. Which one would you use?!?!
I'll be starting a how-to 9" setup for beginners later today, but as of now I need some answers regarding the preload.
Strange specs say 15in-lb for used bearings, 20 with new. And this is with the seal installed and oiled, and bearings oiled as well. Thanks.

Re: 9" preload question?
If your using all new parts, set it up on the tighter side. Atleast thats how I do it. It'll loosen up a bit.
