LS1 T-56 and BBC swap need help.

Ok, so I swapped a 396 into my 91 and picked up a cheap ls1 t56 that i rebuilt and am installing. I already got the bellhousing conversion and stuff and I have the clutch, flywheel, master slave and hyd throwout bearing, I was wondering if I am in need of anything else. I've never installed something like this before and just wondered if someone had any tips or tricks that would help. Thanks!

Re: LS1 T-56 and BBC swap need help.

the air gap from throwout bearing to pressure plate fingers is a key installation setup consideration.

Re: LS1 T-56 and BBC swap need help.

I talked to the gearbox and they recommended a Howe throwout bearing. I'm for some reason a bit skeptical of how the whole system works, I guess if someone could educate me a little more on it Ill be more confident in it...

Do a search, there's numerous threads on installs length differences and so on. But itll fit, your back tires will stick out about 2 inches more in each side I believe.

Yeah, I returned it and got the 82870, why is it loose around the input shaft?

when u slide it on it should have some resistance becuase it has a o ring.and to keep from spinning it has those weird bolts that come with the kit

The diameter of the tob is bigger than the input shaft until the very bottom

Re: LS1 T-56 and BBC swap need help.

the shims line up the bottom when installed it should have a slight preload.use the shims to correct the distance
of the clucth and bearing i only used 3 shims for mine

Re: LS1 T-56 and BBC swap need help.

Ok, as I installed my clutch today it all clicked. The bellhousing adapters got that little like tube that slips.over the input shaft for the throwout bearing. Right? I installed the clutch and was looking at the whole set up and then it came to me haha. I just gotta put the Damn tranny back together and I'm good. Oh daniel... What did you do as far as the master cylinder? I just got a wilwood universal one

Re: LS1 T-56 and BBC swap need help.

i used the oe master cylender then had a -4 fitting welded to the end of the steel braided line. dont forget to check clearance between the clucth and the bearing
