New TKO600 leaking

I only have about 100 miles on my new tko600 and it has alrerady developed a leak. It is coming out from inbetween the bellhousing and the tranmission. I have heard some people say it is the bearing retainer on the input shaft that leaks. Anybody have this problem or any ideas?

Re: New TKO600 leaking

Mine was doing the exact same thing. I pulled it out and removed the front bearing retainer. Cleaned everything up and I mean that literally. Get all of that red sealant off both surfaces. After that was done I used rubbing alcohol to further clean both surfaces again. I then used some good RTV to seal it back up. Hasn't leaked since.

Re: New TKO600 leaking

its 4 bolts and it comes right off....make sure you dont lose the 17 roller bearings on the input shaft......should take you 20 minutes once you have the transmission out of the car....im working on a tko 600 as we speak.....the original owner had a clutch issue which caused the sliders for 1-2 & 3-4 to have their teeth prematurely worn along with 2nd and 3rd gear .....350.00 in parts for me to fix it..

Re: New TKO600 leaking

OK thanks for the help. The only other problem that I have been having is that when I attempt to make a fast shift into 3rd it will miss the shift as if it is just in neutral, and it is tough to downshift into second. You seem to know these trannys pretty well. Do you have any suggestions for those problems?

Re: New TKO600 leaking

try double clutching before you shift....it is a common problem with the tko 600 with the third shift.....could be a clutch issue(not disengaging all the way) or a shift rail issue....call and speak to Paul at LIBERTYS GEARS....they know alot more about these and have fixed many of them and it wont break the bank to get that issue corrected either
