Advice on transmission

We we thought were done restoring 91 z28 convertible that my son ran into a tree. Everything is fixed but I think I made a big mistake. We ran the transmission for about 60 miles 2 quarts low on transmission fluid. I checked it a few times, but I must have made a mistake, cause it was low and there is no fluid on the ground. I filled it and still have problem. Anyway we seemed to have lost 3rd gear. It will go in but not run very well and not downshift back. It runs fine in reverse and if I put the selector to "2" it goes fine. We did remove the throttle body and TV cable linkage when we changed fuel injectors (Last weeks project). Not sure if that has anything to do with it. We are novices and appreciate the advice.

Any suggestions if this is something we can repair? What kind of transmission is on a 91 z28 with a 305. Everything is stock and it dows have 126K on it.

Thank you

3-4 clutches are shot. common problem even with the correct amount of fluid.
Give some of the board sponsors a call..

Thanks, I assume we have a 700r4. If the 305 gives up in a couple of years we may go 350. Any suggestions on anything we should do. We virtually restored it to showroom. So we won't be racing.

Re: Advice on transmission

Same thing happened to mine. You could have it rebuilt. 1000-2400 or buy a jasper or summit racing rebuilt one. Mine cost me 1000 to have rebuilt with a shift kit. I ended up taking it out after a few miles to put in a 5 speed. I still have it for sale if your close to nj.
