89 Camaro Transmission Question--Please Help
I got an 89 Chevy camaro v6 with a 5 spd and Im going to swap in a Carburated Non computer controlled 350. I know the stock transmissio wont work with the motor, so Im wondering what transmission I could bolt up behind the motor that would work with it. I would Love a T56 but unfortunately I dont got the money for it. So ill settle for a 5 spd, Whats a transmission i could use. I know they made another t5 for the 305 but I heard that it wont handle the torque of a 350 someone please help. Thanks you
Re: 89 Camaro Transmission Question--Please Help
Since you already have a 5 speed it will be pretty easy. You will just need a T5 off of a v8 car. I got mine for 500 on ebay. The World class versions are better. I believe just the splines are different on the v6 vs the v8. I have a t5 out of a 92. Ive seen many people use them with well over 400hp. But many will disagree. I have a 350/350hp but my friend has a 383 and he blew the rear and never had a problem with his t5. Ive heard that as long as your somewhat easy on it it will hold up. Ive had some problems with the clutch parts, the trans itself Ive never had a problem with.
