T-56 Swap final prep, parts check and questions
Ok so I'm getting ready to do my T-56 swap (currently a T5), either this weekend or next weekend if I don't get to it this weekend.
Wanted to make sure I have everything I need and ask a question about a couple things.
First off what I have. I bought an 84 camaro that has an LT1, T56, and rear end from a 97 trans am in it. It has the trans am's hydraulics and pedals as well. It has a spohn crossmember with drive shaft loop on it. And a digital speedometer and tach in the cluster.
I plan to pull everything out the car for it, the transmission, pedals, hydraulics, and cluster.
One thing to ask, on a visual inspection under the car, it is missing the dust cover. I've read some places that I can cut notches in the T5 dust cover to get it to fit and bolt in, is this accurate?
I just did an engine swap on my car and when it was done had a new pilot bearing put on it. I can just reuse this correct?
Are there any other parts I might need that would not be already on the donor car?
Also I will say even though I plan to pull the hydraulics and pedals, I've gotten one of those cavalier clutches like explained in another post and going to test it out using my 3rd gen pedals before swapping the other stuff in. When I test drove the car with all the 4th gen stuff I felt the high engagement / release point that other people talk about and really didn't like it felt. So I'm going to try this method using 3rd gen pedals first, from my understanding it works but makes the clutch feel light, so it's going to be a matter of how light it feels as to whether I keep it like that or not.
Thanks

I'm in the middle of a T56 swap into an 84. I'm swapping in 4rth gen pedals as well.
Is you engine a 1 piece rear main seal or 2? You might need a different flywheel.
My 350 is a new crate motor and I noticed it also has a pilot busing installed in it. The motor has been running with a 700 r4 behind it for a couple of months so I'm not sure if it needs a new pilot bushing.
Any chance you want to sell me one of your torque arm mounts? That's all I need to finish up.
Good Luck!

The new engine that I just put in my camaro is a one piece rear main so I shouldn't need a new flywheel I don't think.
As for the torque arm mounts, I don't think I'm going to have one to spare right now. I'm probably going to be putting the T5 from my car back into the 84 for that I bought and trying to resale it to recoupe some of my money from buying the whole care to get the transmission hehe
Unless I decide to sale the LT1 motor separate and then sale the T5 and sale the car as a roller. Haven't decided for sure on that yet.
