700r4 rev limit?
i have an 84 camaro z28, with a 355 s.b.c., flat top pistons, edelbrock performer intake, carb, cam, and lifter set. my timing is set at 10*, and i have the stock rearend. the tranny was rebuilt, has transgo shift kit, upgraded vane, new sprag input, sunshell gear, and corvette servo.
the issue im having is when im at wot
itll shift threw the gears fine, but as soon as third comes and the rpms are about 5500 the tranny "revs" out and doesnt gain any speed just rpms. what would cause that? i have it in the D position...am i pushing to much power for the trans? i think the rear gears are either a 3.08 or 3.23 gears with limited slip posi. not sure if govenor was matched to shift kit or not when built. any ideas?

Your detent cable could be out of adjustment or the 3-4 clutch pack is toast.
