TV Cable Adjustment (Picture Included)

Following advice posted throughout the forum, I decided to attempt to adjust my TV cable tonight. Reason for this is between 2-3 and 3-4 the transmission slips a bit; that is, the engine revs as if in neutral between those gears. This is really noticeable when getting on it a bit.

First, I made sure that the pedal moved the throttle as much as I could with my hand. Then to adjust, I pressed in the D and the cable housing moved forward quite a bit while holding the throttle wide open. I then pressed (towards the windshield) the cable housing as far as I possibly could. Lastly, I sat in the car and depressed the gas pedal to the floor. The attached picture is where it ended. Does this look right?

Car is blocked in driveway tonight so I will test drive tomorrow.

Re: TV Cable Adjustment (Picture Included)

Interesting, I've read a lot of threads saying it sounds like an adjustment was needed.

What should I expect to observe if the adjustment I made is not correct?

Usually if a TV cable needs adjusted the transmission would be shifting at incorrect intervals, taking too long to shift, etc.

The clutch between 2 & 3 and 3 & 4 is shot. I'm not an expert myself, so keep searching, but imo I believe a rebuild is in your future.

Got it, thanks for the advice guys. Now hopefully I didn't cause worse problems with the adjustment of the cable. LOL

Re: TV Cable Adjustment (Picture Included)

Yesterday, I posted the instructions from the Service Manual, and a link to a Youtube video showing two correct ways to adjust the TV cable...

From the sounds of it, your transmission probably needs a rebuild. TV cable position doesn't cause slipping, it just causes the transmission to shift at the wrong times with harder/softer shifts then it should.
