Axle/Gears: 3.45
Aluminum driveshaft help
Hello I was wondering if anyone could help me i was wondering if a 1996 v6 driveshaft was Aluminum and if it would fit as a replacement for mine i know 4th gen ones fit but wasnt sure if this one would and was still aluminum. Thank you

I believe they might've been 2pc steel driveshafts in the v6 but not 100% on that.

Yes they were 2 piece drive shafts and they sucked. I had one. There was a center support bearing that liked to wear out. I replace mine with a one piece V8 ds.

I don't know why they are two pieced...but I was told by this guy who balanced drive lines it's because of the length.

Since the V6 and V8 shafts are interchangeable, length wouldn't seem to be an issue. The OE JG1 shaft is approximately 41 1/2" from U-joint center to U-joint center and 47 1/2" with slip yoke.
The two-piece drive shaft is seen in fourthgen V6 cars.

Seems kinda bogus to me. Makes putting in your vsux drive line like a job living up to its name; a little squirrely.
