Speedo Cable Calibration

Hey, my dads got an 86 T/A that we bought off a guy who swapped the motor for a worked 350SBC from a 5.0 305. Some of the mods that are done to the motor are:
Some sort of cam, pretty decent size.
Edelbrock intake and 650cfm 4bbl carb.
Vortec heads.
A/C delete.
Electric cooling fan.
Headers into true dual exhaust, no cats, i think 3 inch but might be 2.5.

The car is a 5 speed with T-tops and very, very fun to drive! Im not sure if its original 5 speed but as far as i know it is, just havent done any researching on the vin or anything. Its def not showroom condition and needs some cosmetic work, but its very mechanically sound. Ill have to get some pics of it up..
But anyway, thats besides the point of this thread lol The PO put a 3.73 gear set in the 10 bolt rearend, and remember its got the T5 5spd manual trans on an 86 model Firebird Trans Am. He disconnected the speedometer cable bc the speedo was off after changin the gears so the car was racking up miles faster than it should be. How do i calibrate the speedometer so its correct again? Any info would help. Thanks!

Welcome to TGO, KYM. As most questions have been asked and answered, a search is generally a good idea.

Verify what drive and driven gears are in the trans. You may well need both, though my guess is that only the latter will be required. The following will provide the info you need for 3.73's:

BTW, the parts--gears, gear housing, retainer--can be purchased separately from the following site (look at TH350) at a considerable savings over Hawks; for example, the gears are only $7.00 per. Loading will take a sec.
