2.56 gears

I found some 7.5 gears with the 2.56 ratio in a 91 Caprice that we want to put in a 1984 Camaro housing that was originaly a 3.23.
By eye everything looks the same ,has anyone ever done this and know that I can do this swap.
I know I have to use the 2 series carrier that is in the caprice but I just want assurance that the housing will work.
Thanks in advance.... Kevin

Re: 2.56 gears

If the 91 Caprice is a 7.5/7.625 with 28 spline axles, you'll need axles from a later third-gen.

Re: 2.56 gears

thanks for the quick replies...

No I doubt anyone has ever done that. .....lol
I should explain why...it's a circle track dirt car
with a 350 turbo you run in second gear with 4.10's
with 2.56's you can run in 1st gear

i broke the gears in my 84 camaro and swapped in 2.56 gears from a 1980 cutlass because i had them.they made the car a dog and made the overdrive useless.i ended up going to richmond 3.73 gears[same as stock].
