So i finally had the car on the highway and above 60 mph. Well around 65 mph my rpms in OD are about 17-1800. Dosnt seem normal to me. Thinking maybe the previous order did a rear gear swap? I figured I could easily be 80+ and not be that high in the rpms in OD?

Re: Rear Gear Speed
I've got 3.23 and 2k rpm is 65 so you've probably got 2.7something.

Well I plan to drive home to Orlando soon and drive the trans am but I dont want to be doing 70ish with 3-3500rpms all the way there, thats burnin gas and pretty hard on the engine!

Easy solution, slow down to 65. You'll get there around the same time. Only a min or two difference.

Re: Rear Gear Speed
According to your numbers at about 2700 rpm you'd be doing over 90 mph. What do you expect? That sounds pretty normal.

Re: Rear Gear Speed
I expected better number but I guess the car would be decent for drag racing on stock gears and trans. Always stays up in the needed rpm range to make power. Ill find out come spring when I get back up to Arkansas and take the T/A to the strip
