i need help
ok first off ive never rebuilt a car, never even really messed around other than basic maintenance.
im starting off with the rear axle and suspension, its all ripped out right now. i do not have a posi differential, currently in the process of getting one. does the gear ratio have to be specific to match the trans/eng at all? now i understand the higher the ratio the higher the TQ and overall a faster rotation. ive just never done this before and i dont know. i may sound really dumb, but whatever. any advice will help. thanks.
also im located by temecula, ca if anyone wants to help or needs help.

To answer your question, NO it has nothing to do with each other. Now, to ask you a question: What are you wanting to do with the car? What tranny are you working with and what engine?

Re: i need help
The higher in the rpm range power is made, the more likely a higher rear gear will benefit the combo.
The transmission has bearing on it too. The 700R4 has a high first gear and doesn't need as much rear gear.
If you're sticking with the TPI intake, 3.42 is probably the highest rear gear your car will benefit from.
