BW 9 bolt rearend

Looks to me like we need a sticky for those of us with these differentials. I have one in both my '88 & '89 GTA's. I am currently putting an LS1 in my '89 and was wondering about my differential and if it will be strong enough to handle the power of the new engine. I had it checked out by my mechanic and he said everything was fine with it. I think he only replaced one bearing that was marginally questionable. I had him install the bearing cap ARP studs & a girdle cover while he was at it. He said the posi worked good too. I am assuming around 460hp at the flywheel of the new engine. I looked at my options for a 9", 12 bolt or S60, but they are quite expensive and I wasn't real fond of the brake selection available for those rearends. So, I want to keep my 9 bolt. I just don't know what the weak points of the rearend are. Will it be fine like it is? Anything on it I should upgrade to help it survive?

BTW, I did do a search and found a few helpful threads, but most dealt with the posi unit shims. And there are over 800 pages in this category. So I haven't had time to go through all of them. If this information has already been covered, please just give me a link. Thanks for the help guys.

Here's a sticky:

https://www.thirdgen.org/forums/afte...er-9-bolt.html

Here's one that could be:

https://www.thirdgen.org/forums/faq-...now-about.html

Perhaps you've perused both, but they might be helpful to others.

Thanks. I have seen these threads before now that you mention it. I guess I just wasn't looking in the right place for the sticky.
