I was wondering if anyone could give me some info on the transmission i have in my firebird. Its an 82 with mechanical clutch. From what ive gathered it wasnt used for long before they went to other transmissions and hydraulic clutches. From what ive read online and on this site its probably a saginaw? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

 

Probably a Saggy; most are; but maybe not.

If the case is cast iron, that's what it is. If the case is aluminum, it's a Warner T-10.

You can also tell by where the reverse shifter lever is. If it goes into the case it's a Saggy, but if it goes into the extension housing, it's a T-10.

Or, now that we have the largest database in human history of all possible things that can be offered for sale, look em up on ebay and compare the pics to yours.

 

Im actually nowhere near my car so i cant now (and wont be able to for a while) but ill keep that in mind when i go that way and get it out again.
