mechanical or electric?

hey guys im still trying to figure out if a 700r4 from an 89 camaro will work in my 87 camaro from what ive read they both should use a mechanical speedo so that means it shouldnt be an issue right?im not 100 percent sure and i dont want to go buy the tranny til i am so if anybody knows please do tell thanks

Doesn't matter either way, the VSS and cable drive are interchangeable.

ya the guy im buying the tranny said that you can change them but its like the very last thing to come out of the tranny making it a real big pain in the *** i just want to be able to swap the old one out and put the new one in without having to change anything

1 bolt holds it in. 30 seconds to change it. 60 seconds if you do it drunk.
