Slave Cyl Hydraulic line?

That crappy plastic line that they use for slave cyls broke. Where can I get some or use in its place. I tried rubber hose and guess what. Bad idea. Any takers?

What kind of connection is there on the slave cylinder? If there's a way to attach a fitting to it (ie, if it is threaded), I would convert to a braided line. On the T-56 there is a braided line with a special end with an o-ring and a pin that holds it in place, which works well. I converted mine to a male 3AN fitting and bought an Earl's 3AN pre-made line for $15 or so.

I've never seen the pieces used for a T5, so I apologize if this is not of any use to you.

t-5 and t-56 ends are the same, a T-56 hose is already braided, and will work in a T-5, but it will be abit long

Upgraded mine with fittings from Mcleod & had a -4 braided steel line made locally.

"I converted mine to a male 3AN fitting"

Excuse my ignorance but what is a 3AN fitting? I purchased a McLeod hydraulic TO brearing which has a threaded connection on the hose. I want to connect it to a 97 Camaro OEM Master cylinder with the connection discribed above. How can I convert one or the other?

Check this thread out. The threaded end of the fitting in the picture is -4AN, -3AN slightly smaller. BTW Mcleod recomends -4. -3 is a little small for quick clutch reaction.

Thanks for the help. I spoke with Bernie at McLeod Ind. and there are two types of adaptors. Part # 139026 a straight connection to the Master Cylinder and Part # 139027 a 90 deg connection. The braided line come in various lengths Part # 139100-24 is a 24" hose. This puts me one step closer to smoking some tires.

I need hydraulics for a t5 swap
Can I use the one for the t56 or is that
a bad idea?
It looks very similar and uses braided line
which is better.

$40 for a fitting sounds a little steep and 45 bucks for 24" of SS line is a ripp off. You can get 3 Ft of AN4 for 14 bucks at summit.
But I cannot find a roll pin to AN 4 adapter. Anyone help me find a cheaper source? I need two straight ones. I hate to spend $80 bucks for two small fittings!!!

Mcleod is the only game in town for the fittings. Pay the price or do without. SS line can be had at any local hydraulics dealer with -4 ends crimped on. Paid $24 for mine.

BTW, I have an extra -4 SS line with -4 female an fittings 13" long I can sell for $25 + ups. I had a line made 26" & it was too long. So I had it cut in half & two more ends crimped on.

I have all the SS line I can handle right now, If you have the fittings that are roll pin to AN 4 I would be interested. I refuse to be ripped off for such a small and senseless item, I will just tap out my slave cyl and put a regular fitting in it and yes I know there is a hole because of the roll pin but I have a solution.

I have the fittings, except they are on the car & not for sale. If you had a lathe you could you could make them yourself & sell them for $40 each.

Re: Slave Cyl Hydraulic line?

sorry to bother you but i was reading through the forum and saw that you at one time had the same problem as i am currently having. we are putting a t-56 tranny into our corvette. I have bought the clutch master & slave, but cannot find the line that goes between the 2. i have contacted gm and they said they only sell it as a 3 piece kit (master, slave & line) and its gonna cost me 3x's as much as what ive already paid. do you have any suggestions for me on what you ended up doing?

Re: Slave Cyl Hydraulic line?

I ended up using a line I salvaged from a '95 TA that had its front end wiped off it by a tractor trailer truck, it tore the master cylender off the firewall, and ruined it, but the line works fine

Re: Slave Cyl Hydraulic line?

Not sure if this helps, but I bought my T56 hydraulic kit complete & pre-bled for $167 shipped from http://tpiparts.net/inc/sdetail/819

They were a lot cheaper than what the GM dealership wanted.

Re: Slave Cyl Hydraulic line?

yeah i absolutly couldnt find the line around here, scoured the bone yards and all they had were automatics or just the frames. i even went to a hydraulics company to see if they could make one for me. i ended up finding the 3 part set from a company in arizona, $149 shipped, should be here in 2 days. thanks for the advice!!

Re: Slave Cyl Hydraulic line?

Russell makes those same fittings, they sell for $20 a pair from Summit. Russell PN 640281, a Russell AN-3 line should be about $18-20.

The fitting above will fit either clutch master, 84-92 or 93-97. I do not know on the 98-02 because I have not used one for the LS1 tranny. The fitting from Russell is AN-3 though not AN-4.
