i have an 87 camaro with the lg4 305. i believe it to have 2.73 gears. I would like to change to 3.73 gears. If someone could tell me the cheapest and best way to do this that would be great. If any other things are needed please tell me as well. Thanks

 

You'll need to replace the carrier (posi) for a 3 series or buy some 3.73 gears designed to fit on a 2 series carrier.

You'll need a gear set, posi, installation kit which should include new bearings, seals etc. You'll then need to set up the gears which means changing a shim behind the pinion bearing however once it's pressed on, you can't get it off without destroying it.

Buy all the parts you need then take it into a driveline shop to have the gears swapped properly. It will be cheaper and quicker in the long run.

 

As already stated above,if you don't have it, now would be the time to install a L.S.D. (posi).while you have the gears out ,or you will need to pull them again to install at a later date.
