Which Stall for my 700R4?
Hey Guys,
I need help to determine which size (RPM) stall to put in my 700R4.
Motor is a 305 TPI with a ZZ4 cam and new springs. Everything else on the motor is stock (heads, valves, 19lb injectors, etc).
I'm running 3.42 strange gears out back with an auburn.
Some people are recommending 2400 or 2600 but my mechanic is saying these are too high and I should look or 1800 or 2000 to match the bottom rpm range of the cam.
Which one should I use.
thanks

Re: Which Stall for my 700R4?
Desirably torque converter stall is determined by two things:
1. At what RPM does your engine start coming into its power curve
2. How much driveability are you willing to sacrifice to get the stall speed to the bottom of your power curve
Meaning you kind of have to find the happy medium, chances are that you won't be able to get it to the bottom of your engines power curve while still having good street manners, but without knowing where your powerband is I'm afraid this is about all the help I can offer.

Is this a daily driver or a weekend warrior? With what you have mentioned, you need to tell me how you drive? Conservative? Moderate? Moderately aggressive? Or aggressive?
