knock on acceleration and decelleration
I have a 1991 305 auto z28. It drives great but when ever I get on it at lower speeds I hear a loud knock, and when I get off I hear the knock again. It's just a bang coming from the rear. Everything under the car looks sound and solid.
What does this sound like?

Alot of views, no answers. Anyone. Does it sound like a Diff problem, maybe the drive shaft U joint?

I would check to make sure the transmission mount isnt broken (extremely common) and if that is fine, check the torque arm mount.
That usually makes noises sounding like they're coming from the trans tunnel, though.
BTW if the trans mount is broken, get a decent poly mount form Energy Suspension or Prothane. Less than $20 if I remember.
