700 is 4 speed 350 is 3. 700 has lockup 350 doesn't. 700 is standard equipment so easier install and parts.

Re: Which trans?

TH350 is a near bolt in in place of a TH200-will only
need a torque arm mount kit.700 r4 will require quite
a few parts off a 700r4 f-bod for the conversion.
I have had both in my '82,liked the first gear ratio and
1-2 ratio spread of the 350 better vs the 700 and the
350 is lighter and a little smaller than the 700.
i do like the overdrive of the 700 and mine has been
tough and very reliable,my 700r4 from an '85 caprice
with shift kit and f-bod tail housing added.

Re: Which trans?

And what do you want it to do? What will you do with the car? How much power do you have? How easy? What cost? The pros/cons of each trans need to be weighed against other factors.

I just rebuilt the 305 cfi and beefed up the guts. ill probably go with the 700r4 because what i really want it another gear. i just want some more get up and go and I'm tired of driving down the highway doing 80 and at 4500 rpm
