Difficult Shifting
The other day, I was driving my '92 Camaro for the first time in about a month. It was running fine initially, but after about 10 minutes of driving, it started getting difficult to shift gears (it's a manual).
I thought that I might have a problem with the tranny oil, but I didn't notice any leaks in my garage. Nonetheless, I wanted to check the oil level. I couldn't check it via the drain plug, because I lent my jack-stands to a friend, and couldn't crawl under the car, but I took apart the shifter inside the car.
It looked like there was enough oil in the shifter reservoir, but I'm not certain.
Is is enough for the oil to just cover the bottom of the reservoir?
What else might be giving me the problems shifting into gears?
Thank you for any help.

Re: Difficult Shifting
Yes.
Poorly releasing clutch. Degrease the slave and line thoroughly, look for leaks. Look also at the master / line connection area on the firewall and inside the cabin after peeling back the rubber boot part of the master.
These systems don't often need bled by the bleeder on top of the slave but it's not bad preventative maintenance.

Yeah.. the clutch was my second guess. There's been a whine from the clutch every time I press the pedal in even slightly.. I've been told its the throw-out bearing, or something like that. I'll replace that as soon as possible.
Thanks for the reply, I just wanted to make sure the oil was in good condition before I took out the clutch/transmission.

Re: Difficult Shifting
If you have a bad throwout bearing they sometimes get hard to shift
The bearing won't seat level when you depress the clutch if it has a bunch of play in it from worn bearing surfaces/insides
Haven't seen it often, but in the R&R business you end up seeing everything a few times
