Transmission Grinding Into Reverse

My transmission is making a grinding noise when I shift into reverse. Is my tranny about to die? The only thing that has been done to it was a corvette servo install about 3 weeks ago. The transmission fluid appears to be at the right level. Any ideas??

Clutch is going out?
With the hydraulic systems the clutches are good to the last drop.

No... wear patterns are linear. It's good to the last drop, meaning that the clutch is good until it is really ready to crap out on you

I'm not sure about your car but mine, and all other cars that I have seen have a dipstick, just like the oil. It is close to the firewall.

T-5: two holes
one drain one fill
Put car on stands
Use standard socket wrench
Insert into the top bolt and romove
insert pinkey
Feel for fluid
fill till it runs out.

Best way to fill. You will under stand if doing it alone.
1 squeeze bottle
4" of rubber hose. collant over flow hose 1/4" id
Fill with ATF
Don't post to verify ATF, USE ATF

just a little advise, if you are grinding into reverse. first put the trans into 5th, that will synch the gears and then put it into reverse. this will keep you from grinding and extend the life of your trans. not a fix but a little help.

Yep, it did that on mine when i first got it. Reverse is not a synchronized gear so with wear it will grind. i always put it in 5th and then right into reverse and no grinding.

Do the above. If it is still tough from time to time, pump the clutch once while in neutral, THEN put it in 5th and reverse.

Grinding in reverse is usually a clutch adjustment problem however. Make sure you have the proper free play adjusted on it, that it is fully bled, and the slave cylinder is completely full

If adjusted properly, it should stop the grind going into reverse
