Car: 1984 15th Anniversary Trans Am
Engine: 5.7 Goodwrench (for now)
Transmission: T5
Axle/Gears: 3.73
Strange "stumbling" in 1st/2nd gear
1984 t/a, mild 350, t5 and 3.73 rear that came with the 15th anniversary package
The car runs fine, and i've been fixing odds and ends since I got her last year. The transmission has always shifted fine for me, and I've never had any issues with it.
When in 1st/2nd, and slowing down if I hit the gas it kinda stumbles unless I really gas it. Not like it's going to stall, but like as if its something with the power transfer. At low speeds, I can also hear a strange "whine" or a knd of "woo woo woo" and the car has a difficult time actually moving. It kinda goes back and forth almost. If I gas it, then it stops... but I can't keep going that fast in say, rush hour traffic. It makes traffic as a whole a huge pain in the ***. I should also mention that going in reverse reproduces this same whine. While driving the car it's difficult to pinpoint where this noise is coming from, so I figured maybe i'd post here for suggestions
I cant seem to tell if it's my flywheel making the noise or the rear end.

Car: Yes
Engine: Usually
Transmission: Sometimes
Axle/Gears: Behind me somewhere
Re: Strange "stumbling" in 1st/2nd gear
Usually that's from a lean condition under those circumstances... pretty common with that carb arrangement.
If this is something that it's "always" done, and not something that's just started up as if something is going wrong, try adjusting the idle air bleed valve CW in VERY SMALL increments, like ¼ turn, and see if that affects it. 1 full turn would be a pretty substantial change. Might also change ALOT of other things about idle and cruise at the same time (gas mileage, spark plug life, running temp, etc.), so keep track of how much you move it in case you need to put it back.
The noise is probably the rear end.
