Does anyone of you fine gentlemen have a schematic of the factory 82 clutch linkage? Specifically how the Z-bar mounts to the engine, and the other end. The 2nd gens had a screw in ball on the eng. side, and a slotted bracket on the frame side that the end of the Z-bar stud slid into. Curious if the 3rd gens mount similar. Thanx. Joe

I would try sending Dens71TA a PM, he may have one, TAdan may have one, among others. Could also see if anyone on earlythirdgen.com/forums has one. Most of us on there also are on here with the same names or similar ones. Kymmee in specific has had to repair or replace one so she could give you the details on that site if you PM her.Originally Posted by tajoe

Yup, pretty similar...
No pics though, I took that Stone Age crap off my 83 and threw it in the trash in about 86 or thereabouts; the instant a hydraulic setup appeared in the junkyard. Haven't regretted it for an instant.

An individual @ brand X is taking one off his 83 and says it won't come off the engine. Didn't know if it was connected differently than the 2nd gens.

Nope; exactly the same, except that the "frame" bracket is shaped very slightly differently.
OK. Thanx for the help men.

Yep; if you've seen one you can figure the other out,
From 2nd to 3rd gen, the:
frame bracket is different.
The z-bar has a wild z-shape to the tube.
pedal to z-bar rod is IIRC, oddly shaped.
ballstuds, bushings and felt seal interchange fine.
And of course the fork outer end is pointed lower than the earlier stuff.
