700r4 or th350 for performance?
Hey guys I have a 89 firebird with a 2.8l I pulled out and I'm dropping a 350 in it and wasn't sure wich tranny to use the 700r4 or th350? I'm looking for the fastest one and I think they both should fit with the driveshaft right? So wich will make me faster?

Except for a dedicated 1/4 mile car with a stall where gearing should be close together, the 700-R4 is going to give you better overall speed since it has overdrive. It has wider spread gears which are entirely livable.

Re: 700r4 or th350 for performance?
700R-4s can be problematic, I've lost several, and most of mine have developed...umm...nuances, but that deep first gear plus the sedate cruising is so very worth it. I'll never go back to a TH350. And the only way I'll ever run a TH400 is if I ever build a 1200-HP, twin-T76 LR4 ( 4.8L LSx )
