T5 cluster support install.

I have a nice fresh rebuilt T5 sitting in my garage. I looked at the speedo gear inside and I have a red 9 tooth. I need the 7 tooth to go with my 3.73 rear end so I will be taking the tail housing off.

I was thinking while I was in there I might want to add a cluster support. Any idea how hard it is?

It looks like I need to take off one shift fork and a single snap ring, is that really it?

Do I need to measure any special clearances?

Re: T5 cluster support install.

Anyone? Has anyone ever taken the T5 apart to the point where the cluster support can be replaced?

Re: T5 cluster support install.

It is just under 5th gear. So if you have the tail housing off it isn't much work to take 5th gear off to get to the cluster plate.

Yea I know there is 1 C clip and I need to remove the pin on the fork, but do I need any special measurement tools to put it back together?

Re: T5 cluster support install.

wouldn't hurt to have a dial indicator to check your counter shaft endplay but the new plate shouldn't really change anything. And in order to change endplay you would have to take the whole trans apart anyway.

Awesome

Looks like I will need a

21 tooth gear 3987921
7 tooth gear 14071731
Sleeve 345215
cluster support
http://www.allstategear.com/BORG%20W...RT%20PLATE.htm

and finally the speedo gear clip.

Anyone know the clip part number I am having trouble finding it?

Re: T5 cluster support install.

Got this done last night. Went fairly smooth hopefully the end play did not get messed up changing from the plate to the support. Everything seemed to fit well I reused the shim that was there.
