T56 Flywheel Question
I have a 92 camaro RS with a 305. I just bought a T56 transmission and what to know if the new 92 305 is like the LT1. What type of flywheel, clutch and pilot bearing will I need to order?
Ive seen over forum with the old 2 piece rear main seal engine design but none with the new 1 piece.
Thanks

Re: T56 Flywheel Question
86-up 305, 350, LT1 and LT4 all the way through the 2003 vans with 350 Vortec's all accept the same balance flexplate / flywheel. So if you have an LT1 T56, you can use an LT1 flywheel and clutch.

Re: T56 Flywheel Question
I have an aluminum flywheel for sale. I decided to go with an automatic so I no longer need it. It's new still in the box just needs to be set up for neutral balance. All Summit listed were external balanced flywheels for a T56 when I bought it.

Re: T56 Flywheel Question
GET EVERY SINGLE PART FROM THE LT1 DONOR. YOU WILL NEED IT ALL EXCEPT PERHAPS THE PEDALS. YOUR CHOICE.

Re: T56 Flywheel Question
For a 400 you need the externally balanced 2 pc rear main seal flywheel like what Motormouth has or a steel one of that style.
For greeny as said you want everything except the donor crossmember and driveshaft. Generally pedals (or use 3rd gen) hydraulics, flywheel, clutch, bell, throwout fork, torque arm mount, shifter, inner boot, trans mount. Everything. You then will need to get or make a t56 crossmember for a 3rd gen. Also look at clutch prices and throwout bearing prices individually. Alone the throwout bearing is very high.
You will require a dakota digital speedo converter adapter to make the speedo read correct. With this there is no speedo concerns if gears are changed. Reset the speedo adapter and you are good to go.
Read the first several pages of the T56 swap thread at the top, it is very informative and good with pics also.
