In neutral with the clutch disengaged it sounds like a box of rocks or marbles getting tossed around. I just had this thing redone by a GM certified tech awhile ago too and cant remember for the life of me if it made that noise before either since i never really got to put enough miles on it to find out. Ive heard these transmissions have a lot of gear rollover noise but idk if this is excessive or not. Oh and it makes more noise when its up to temp too.

Also in 4th and 5th if im lugging the motor a bit i hear some noise from the trans if i lean into it. I dont hear anything if im not lugging the motor though.

Just trying to determine if i need to pull the trans for a 6th time

Great.....ug i might be pulling this thing for the 6th time then. It just doesnt sound right at all. Shifts great but jeez the noise is terrible.

A little noise from a TKO is normal. Mine makes a little noise in 4th and 5th if lugged down enough. But what you are describing is not normal so you should take the car to the guy who redid the trans and see what he thinks.

 

I keep getting conflicting ideas on the subject. Some say it is the nature of the trans and that they make rollover noise at idle...other say it shoudnt. I talked to Fortes in MA and they seem to think its normal what im hearing and that these are just noisy transmissions to begin with.

I also drained the fluid and there was Very very fine metal in there which i was also told is normal after a rebuild since everything was breaking in. Again...idk. I would have been happier not seeing any metal in it.

 

my trans used to make this crappy noise till i pumped the clutch a bunch . I think something was loose or out of alignment with the throw out barring . I just turned up the music for a few months and it went away
