Hey guys,

Today I was headed home from work chasing some friends. Couple guys from the local car club met up with us and as we left town, everyone punched it going from a rolling start of about 30 when the speed limit changed. Like them, I put the pedal down except when I had expected the transmission to shift downshift and it did, then felt like it popped out of gear. The car sort of surged, the RPM's revved near 5K till I let off the gas. As soon as it dropped back to around 3000 rpm, the car lurched hard as it caught and shifted chirping the rear tires. It ran fine the rest of the way home but this is about the third time this has happened. i know I didn't bump the shifter into neutral and it kind of scared me because it make this whining sound when it did it....

The transmission is only about 5 years on a new front pump/shift kit install. Factory torque converter. it is sitting behind a 320hp 350 now though, not the original 305. Factory rear gearing also. Any ideas/thoughts on what it could be?

Bump the post. Any tranny guru's out there? It's starting to do it in the 1-2 shift now as well occasionally.
