Computer Swap for Trans?
Computer Swap for Trans?
I've currently got a '91 t-top Camaro RS with the tbi 305 and 700r4. I would like to swap the motor out for a carbeurated 350 or something along those lines but would really like to keep the 700r4, especially since it was rebuilt about 5000 miles ago. I know if I go carbeurated my stock computer will not work for the 700r4.
I was talking to a friend of mine who has an '87 Firebird. He has a carbeurated engine and the 700r4 in his car.
So I was wondering if I put a carbeurated engine in my car, can I use a stock computer from a previous year to control the 700r4? If so would I need anything else with it and what?
Thanx for any help!

see

Or wire a manually operated switch so you can turn on/off when you want
( if you forget to turn it off when stopping engine will stall )
Re: Computer Swap for Trans?
I would still like to know if an earlier factory computer can be used though. I know it'd probably cost more, but reading that link it sounds like those controllers still don't do everything that a factory computer would do except maybe that B&M one.
