Engine stalls - T56 swap
The engine sometimes stalls after i pull it out of gear. For instance if I'm slowing down to make a turn i'll pull it out of gear to downshift into 2nd. When i pull it out of gear it dies, and when i get it into second it will of course fire back up again. I'm wondering if it has something to do with the computer? The car was an auto, and i think there is a different PROM for the manual trans cars. I'm wondering if it has something to do with the idle while coasting? Also, i haven't gotten around to doing the wiring yet, so the PNR switch is still plugged in, but i was driving it around with the switch in the park position. If i put it in the drive position, does the computer bump up the idle to deal with the load of the torque converter? I'm not sure how advanced the computer is for that car. Also, would switching the PROM work, because all the manual cars that year were 5.0L engines, and mine is a 350. Or would i have to reprogram the whole PROM?

.
There's a park/neutral switch which signals the ECM in an automatic car when in "Drive" for different idle at roadspeeds and other functions. (An auto car with original PROM, park-neutral switch in Park and a stick trans. swapped in will tend to stall while you're driving at speed.)

Cool. Thanks guys. I'll try it out after work. Does it matter which forward gear the switch is set to? Does it have to be drive or OD?
