What Clutch to Purchase For T56?

As I understand it, the t56 (lt1) will accept any 11", 26T clutch disk and pressure plate setup, correct? Or does there need to be a special t56 clutch?

For Example, could I buy something like this: http://www.ebay.com/itm/GRIPFORCE-CL...ht_3070wt_1206

By the way, if it helps at all I'm using the Mcleod flywheel 460300.

Thanks guys!

Any? No. That clutch is an 11" push clutch for a 168 tooth 14" flywheel. That flywheel won't fit the LT1 T56 bellhousing. The McLeod you mentioned will fit the bellhousing.

The 153 tooth 12.75" flywheel you chose needs the same style 26 spline diaphragm style clutch but it will have a smaller bolt pattern pressure plate and smaller disc. It's commonly called a 10.5" fine spline Chevy clutch. You're basically looking for one that fits any GM-built V8 third gen.

In order to add push clutch release bearing setup to that trans:

Or you could go with the pull-release clutch originally used w/ the LT1 T56. If you're running a 1pc rear main seal 86+ engine, it isn't too pricey to get aftermarket clutch and flywheel for that application. It uses the 11" pull clutch and deeply dished 153 tooth flywheel. If you have a 2pc rear main seal, the flywheel can be pricey from the aftermarket.

Hope your engine build is going well.

Wow, thanks for the help! Just a few more questions...

My intention is to use the stock pull system, this (Mcleod flywheel 460300) flywheel should work for that, right? Be a 2 piece adapter to a stock t56 lt1 flywheel?

And by the way, my engine build is going pretty good! Engine sounds wicked but the automatic tranny didn't work when I put it in so I went six speed

Nope. Back to this:

McLeod 460370 works for 85-down 350 with 93-97 T56 / clutch.

For a few reasons, don't screw with the spacing of the flywheel to crank relationship. Someone on thirdgen has mentioned having their machinest re-drill the crank bolt pattern and neutral balance an LT1 T56 flywheel. I've always been able to find a nearly new aftermarket flywheel in various classifieds for the 85-down engines w/ T56 swap.
