Transmission leak at speedo cable

Hey guys, I have an 83 Z28 that has been neglected over the years by just sitting in a barn. I have been replacing seals and weather stripping all over and I have a leak in the tranny. I have it down to the speedo cable where it goes into the tranny case. I have replaced the cable with a GM OEM part. It is leaking into the cable and leaches out around the castle nut that holds the cable on the tranny. Is there a seal I'm missing or does that spider gear in the case need to be replaced as well? I'm tired of leaving a towel on the floor and adding fluid from time to time. It's not a daily driver but I don't like guessing where the level is. Why the hell didn't they put a fill tub on these cars? Any suggestions will be greatly appreciated. Thanks Matt

There should be a seal in the "bullet", around the gear shaft. If the gear is wore out there then you'll have to replace it.

If it's an auto trans, they did. But if it's a manual, (a) no manual transmissions have ever had a fill tube that I'm aware of; and (b) if you keep em maintained so they don't leak, you basically never have to add any anyway.
