Transmission troubles. Need a peaceful mind
Hello Forum!
Just signed up. Though I'm on here quite often reading, learning, and gathering information for my knowledge base up in the noggin that helps me out. Just decided to sign up today so I can now also post and possibly help answer some of the questions I see I can also maybe help with. I will do what I can to help out as well. That's my introduction
To start off this is what I drive. The car is a Camaro RS 2.8L v6 with a 3 speed automatic transmission with overdrive. I know, the little one of the family. But still is my baby and daily driver.
Now to carry on to my current situation that I could use some advise, information, past experiences, or what ever else could be shared so maybe I can be more at a peace knowing specifics with my current problem stated in my topic. My automatic transmission. Yes the one thing that could have so many problems with it it leaves me worried and puzzled on what to do. Though I am currently looking into a good transmission shop.
But these are my transmission problems.
Of course at a cold start up and engaging it into a gear it has a very long delay going from park to overdrive(more than 5 seconds) then clunks into gear, and a few second delay going from park to reverse or drive and a bit shorter in any gear lower going from park, still having the clunk though. On start up Problem 2 is after in drive cars power is at its average when first running and shifts smoothly gear to gear. No problems, till about 5 minutes into driving. Then while its shifting from 2nd to 3rd it shifts hard and I get a great engine power loss, still having normal rpm just lack of torque and acceleration. But if I shift it into overdrive every gear is smooth again. But still having that power loss. Like I'm running on 80-90 horses. Also if I put it in first gear and run to maybe 5000 and let off the gas car decelerates and makes a loud winding noise. Don't know if that one is normal for my tranny though. But its strange. Some days are better than others. Most days its like that and some its not as bad threw out a drive. Different moods on different days.
My tranny fluid is also good and filled properly. Though I believe it was ran with low transmission fluid at one point.
My guess is maybe the torque converter not engaging properly? But that is my guess I'm hoping.
Input is appreciated
