Need a posi unit! Suggestions?
So I am currently work on my 87 firebird. Took the rear end cover off the other day and removed the carrier to find out it is useless. All the gears are chewed up and theres practically no more oil grooves.
What I need now is a new posi unit but I am unable to find one online for my particular rear end.
10bolt
7.5inch
28spline axles.
Any help would be greatly appreciated!!

Re: Need a posi unit! Suggestions?
Unless you swapped the axles you will have 26 splines. If you have 26 splines then I recommend the 28 spline upgrade. The Eaton Posi or Yukon Dura Grip would be my suggestions. You can get a better price than that Summit price, especially on the Dura Grip. Check ebay or www.jdrace.com The 28 spline unit is probably going to be listed as a 7 5/8 , 7.6 or 7.625.

This is the one I used in my rear after some suggestions from others that I had talked to.

Not sure on the differences betweeen that one and the Eaton Torque, but it's cheaper, and from what I've been told it's better for a non drag car.

I have a lightly used Detroit Locker for a 28 spline 7.625 10 bolt that I may be convinced to part with for the right money if your interested.
