Starter/T5 Question
Hey guys,
I know this is an engine question, but i am putting it here because it is involved with my transmission swap.
Currently I am working on swapping my 700r4 for a T5 WC. When I put the flywheel on, do I need a different starter for the car?
The ring gear on the old "flywheel" and the new flywheel seem to be the same size. But i just want to ask and make sure i don't wreck the teeth on my flywheel.
So do I need a different starter with the WC T5 than with the 700r4?
Thanks,
Adrian

Re: Starter/T5 Question
You might, or maybe not...
Some auto starters for the 12.8" ring gear have a "feature" of their nosepiece, that won't fit into the T-5 bell. But not all. Most replacement nosepieces fit both, but not all. Given that the likelihood of your car still having its "original" starter is somewhere between Slim and None, but Slim just got up and left, it'd be pretty tough to guess about that from out here.

Re: Starter/T5 Question
so the difference is not in the size of the starter gear or anything, it is just the nosepiece on the starter not fitting the bell housing? I'll have to check it out again, but i had the T5 bell housing mounted up already and i don't think i had any issues with fitment. I'll have to check it again. I just wanted to make sure the gear in the starter was the same as to not wreck the ring gear on the flywheel.
