GTO rear end?
hey i dont know much about rearends but i found a 2006 GTO stock rearend online for 600$, was wondering if it was worth it or even possible to swap into my thirdgen? if so what would i need to do, thanks alot!!

It would require a lot of fabrication to make it fit, and it's a Borg Warner cone type differential, very similar to the 9 bolt that was used in some of the 3rd gens. The GTO rear ends had a lot of bearig problems. Most of them had to be rebuilt at about 20,000 miles. I had to do one that had about 28,000 miles on it. GM doesn't sell any parts for the differential. They just replace it as a complete unit when it goes bad. If you get parts for it they have to come from the land down under. Most of the guys who run their GTOs hard are replacing the differential with a after market unit. Lingenfelter, Moser and several others sell 12 bolt and 9 inch Ford type differentials for them, along with very heavy duty axles and other parts.
