5 speed swap in crossfire question

so this has me boggled, 83 trans am crossfire was a auto obviously they all were. well i did a 5 speed swap and it is done now and in workign order. there were some wires that went to the shifter for the computer, like the p/n saftey switch reverse light, ground and what not, anyway there was a orange wire w black stripe, when the car was auto i tested everything out and that wire had power going to it when the trans was in reverse or any drive gears. when the car was in park or neutral there was no power to it, well that wire is the only wire left loose now but it seems that when the car is running that wire is power on. can someone tell me what the orange wire w black stripe is for in the shifter on a 83 trans am? i have nto driven the car yet so i am not sure if it will be boggin a little, i was told to put a switch on that wire i have a hanes manual but the wireing pages are screwed up.

also the green reverse wire is wired to tranny and the purple and yellow wire i have wired to my clutch pedal

Just tells the ecm to up idle for in gear load to compensate idle.

just a signal wire for the ecm to bump up idle because car is in gear. Leave disconnected.

Nope, I haven't heard that one. With a vette ecm my cfi never died when clutch was pressed in. I never altered my 83 harness, just plugged the vette ecm in if it was even one. Disconnected the stuff for auto shifter and plugged in neutral start switch at clutch pedal. Even built a 82 trans am with a 90 L-98 with 90 TBI and electronics and put a 5 speed in and it never died at stops. It had a automatic harness and prom as well.
