Harsh 1-2 shift

I just got done installed a freshly rebuilt transmission I. Behind my fresh rebuilt vortec 350, I noticed tonight that the 1-2 shift is really mean, it will jar you under light throttle even, the motor doesn't scream when it goes to shift, the rpms raise alittle higher than I'm use to before it shifts but not horribly, and th e rest of the shifts are firm. As it warms up alittle it gets alittle softer but still worried me, I installed a new tv cable for an 86 4bbl camaro, have the correct throttle bracket bolted to my carb throttle plate, and the correct bracket that holds my cables in place, when I adjusted the cable I heard three clocks as your suppose too, but the last click was alite hard to get, it was near the end of the throttle and the cable tightened up alot before it clicked in they off time. I'm not sure what all was done to the transmission besides a Rebuild so it could have a shift kit or something inside it. Help?

I have never heard of the tv cable making "3 clicks". It should ratchet as you roll the throttle forward and that's it. Once it's set it shouldn't ratchet anymore. Older cables can be harder to set. If you are worried get a 300 psi pressure gauge and check transmission pressures.

Re: Harsh 1-2 shift

They may have blocked the 2nd accumulator and/or drilled the 2nd feed hole in the plate a bit more then they should have.
