The ones that are currently in the diff and behind the pinion gear.
Unless you have a test pinion bearing modified to slide on and off without a press, you'll never "guess" at what shims to start with. Once you press the bearing on, you're not going to get it off to change the shims without destroying it.

No. When you ordered the gears you should have also ordered a good installation kit. It would have made the job much easier. If you have a press with a bearing seperator you can press the pinion bearing off and on without damaging it. There is a good thread on this sight that covers gear set up with a lot of pictures. Check the 10 bolt sticky and see if there is a link there.

They tend to break the pinion teeth off easy..
