I am completing my 7004R (1987) -> T56 (from 1997 camaro) swap. This tranny has (3) threaded holes in the trans support for the crossmember. Does anyone know the size of the threaded holes?
Thanks, Brad

Not sure about "trans support for crossmember"... but what I think you're talking about is, the bolts that hold the crossmember to the "frame" are 10mm std thread (1.5mm? not sure), and need to be the "body bolt" pointy kind of thing.
Thanks for the reply, but I'm acutally talking about the (3) bolts to the trans support on the tranny itself.

The trans mount? Depends on what mount you have and you should use studs and either use 1 in the center of 2 on the side, not all 3. Assuming you have a urethane mount? Should have come with studs, lock washers and nuts then. Do not use bolts, if they are too long you will easily break the mount in 2...don't ask how I found out

Hmmm, intersting. I'm glad I asked the question before moving on. So the intent is to only thread the stud in far enough to go through the metal threads on the mount?Originally Posted by Twin_Turbo

Curious, what would be the difference in using a stud that goes in the same distance .vs. a stud & nut configuration?

You mean bolt? You have to tq the bolt down so if you use too long a bolt you will have a propblem so if you want to use a bolt make sure it threads in all the way on just the mount, the thickness of the crossmember will give clearance. I prefer the studs
