Looking for posi rear...need help
I have an 86 iroc z and am looking for a new rear, since I have a bent axle. I was told that it was a better idea overall just to get a whole new rear instead of just an axle.
I need some advice on what I should get in terms of size, what will fit my car, and best on price

Yea, the '82 to '92 F body rear ends are a bolt in with no modifications. The '93 to '02 F body rear ends are a bolt in, but they are about 4 inches wider. The '98 to '02 rear ends have the best limited slip differential. No other rear ends will fit without major modifications.

It should fit, BUT, all 4th gens rears are 4 inches wider, so expect your wheels to stick out 2" further than they currently do on each side. Many members here run 4th gen Fbody rear ends.

It's going to have the Auburn differential in it, so it's a gamble. If the Auburn is worn out then it's scrap metal. It can't be rebuilt. That's why I said that the '98 to '02 is better. They have the Torsen differential.
