700r4 Rebuild Help!

I'm currently going to school for automotive technician (first semester) and I'm currently in an automotive course. I need to bring in a tranny (or be forced to use the school one which suck) so I'm thinking of buying an old 700r4 and rebuilding with some performance parts. Does anyone know a good performance kit and have any tips on rebuilding a tranny that could be helpful to me. If everything goes well I will drop it in my car which only has a stock 305 for now so not much abuse will be done to the tranny but maybe later I will do some mods to the engine or do a 350 swap.

Thanks for the help guys

Re: 700r4 Rebuild Help!

The performance kits are overpriced and not necessary. When I do a 700r4 I get a stock kit. I get the 3-4 steels only and a band. The rest you wont know you need until you open it up. I usually do a corvette servo and transgo kit also. The only tips for building I have are keep everything clean and organized. Get an ATSG manual. Also you can take pictures and label your small parts.
