test t5

Quick question.

I have a rebuilt t5 that i was told works great. I had to change the drive gear and while i was in there i added a cluster support plate. Is there a way to bench test it before i put it in the car?

Re: test t5

The only two ways of bench testing it are to spin the input shaft and see that the output shaft spins differently in each gear when you shift it (provided you have the shifter hooked up). Also you want to check the input shaft for in and out play. There should be none. Side to side and up and down play is ok since that gets taken up by the pilot bearing but in and out play is no good. If it passes both of those tests then its closer to being a good trans but does not guarantee it.
