1984 Trans Am Rear Diff upgrade questions

Hello all,

After dropping in my mild 383 last spring I find myself traction deficient

I will be upgrading my rear diff with a posi in the next few weeks, and have done much searching online here with some good info. I have a 3.23 open now, with presumably 26 spline axles.

Question: Can I use used axles out of a never thirdgen to keep costs down on this project, I am limited up here in Ontario on availability of new used, and shipping is prohibitive..

I think Ive settled on an eaton posi, I`ve had powertrax before and it was fine, but it`s not much cheaper anymore, and I have to upgrade axles anyway.

I also have the stock disk with non functioning adjusters I will be rebuilding, any input on those baby`s would be great!

Steve

You can use '90 to '92 28 spline axles. The Eaton Posi is a good choice. Also look at the Yukon Dura Grip for a lower cost alternative if money is tight. And get the Yukon super shim set and Timken bearings for the installation.
