Remove " retainer" inside slave cylinder?
Installing all new clutch hydraulics today, along with clutch pedal bushings. Question:
When I take the boot off the slave cylinder there is a little " retainer" inside the slave, does this need to be removed after installation or is it there to keep from "blowing out" the guts of the slave?
My problem is that I am not getting enough pedal to engage clutch. Wondering if any of you that have replaced this part might know the answer...
Thanks.

If you're talking about the thing that looks sort of like a tie-wrap with a little cap in the middle, it's only there for shipping AFAIK; it will burst the first time the pedal is pushed.
The SC should be able to generate several hundred pounds of force, EASILY enough to snap that little nylon band. If it can't manage that, then you have other problems somewhere; air in the system, most likely. The band itself isn't The Problem.

No, not talkin bout the lil plastic cap thingy, I'm talkin if you actually remove the boot, inside the cylinder there is a lil metal ring snap ring retainer thingy that would keep the guts of the cylinder from falling out.
Guess if no one knows what I'm referring to then its a good sign to leave it in place. Was thinking this might be the reason why I can't get quite enough pedal to engage clutch.
