Hi guys I have a question my 89 trans am tpi 700r4 is not shifting when I have the gas all the way down at around 70 is this normal? when I let off a little it goes to overdrive when I had my camaro 2.8 it seemed the rpm drop was more consistant and it didnt seem to just freeze in the drop down gear. Is it because of the 2.73 gears?

 

I believe the 700R4 won't shift into overdrive at WOT regardless of speed, so yes that is normal.

 

That can be fixed with a few small trans parts.

 

I just had the trans rebuilt a month ago though

 

A rebuilt trans won't come with upgraded parts unless you ask/pay for them, they just replace the wear items.

 

The main part to fix that is the Transgo 3-4 shift valvetrain. A .500" TV boost valve is a good idea too. Both changes can be made with the transmission in the vehicle.
