T56 Clutch ?

I found a lot of good info here when i installed my LT1 T56, and now i've got another question.

I experienced the usual high clutch pedal thing but just dealt with it.
Now however I have a rattle sound when pedal is fully depressed, it dissappears when clutch is released, clutch seems to work fine tho.

I think i'm going to have to remove trans etc to see what the problem is.

Reading some of the threads here I've read that fourth gen pedals will cure the high clutch, also read that a Tick Master will solve problem.
http://www.tickperformance.com/tick-...or-lt1-f-body/

Anyone used either? Can you tell me how it worked out, especially the Tick unit.

Also i read there is a fix for the third gen pedals somewhere here, but can't seem to find it, can someone point that out for me.

Thanks for any help you can oiffer

I use the tick master. The pedal can be adjusted to remove any free range from the pedal throw. The tick master is a larger bore than OEM so the pedal will be very short and very firm. Whether or not that is good, is your call.

I use the stock fourth gen slave. The master comes with a hose that fits.

Re: T56 Clutch ?

Your clutch has too much travel and the pressure plate is hitting the clutch fork when the pedal is fully depressed. The Tick master will fix the problem or a cheaper solution is to use a late '80's Cavalier slave cylinder. It has a larger bore which reduces the travel. I have a few extra of the slaves if you want a new one for $25 shipped. Another benefit of the Cavalier slave is it has a bleeder built in.

If that works, and you can ship quickly, I'll take one, PM me your paypal info.

Need any special fittings or tools to connect the two, is it bolt on to stock LT1 bellhousing?

Thanks

Re: T56 Clutch ?

You need to figure out what you want. The caviler slave will work but with a longer and softer pedal feel. Is that what you want?

Softer is fine. As long as it will lift the Pressure plate.

Can you give me details on longer please?

Now it just engages at the last 2 inches of the top of pedal throw.

I don't want to have to depress clutch carefully all the way to the floor to shift, when driving. But would like to shift sort of normally.

If by longer you mean the clutch starts to engage sooner ( from a stop)than the last few inches that would be fine.

Softer means less leg effort will be required.

Longer means the distance the pedal travels through the engagement zone will be longer. It is the distance from non engaged at all to fully engaged.
