Hey guys, I bought a 1983 Firebird as a project/daily driver. It has the LG4 305, and I'm guessing the stock tranny. My problem is, when driving 1st - 3rd gears whine and grind while I'm in gear and driving, it also grinds hard into 3rd and sometimes 4th. I have noticed that while idling, it sounds like something is rattling around in the trans, but not sure what would cause that. I've looked up different things, but nothing of what I have found sounds like the problem I'm having.

I did check the fluids, and the guy said the clutch was weak (getting replaced this Wednesday.) But I really don't think that a weak clutch would cause those sounds. I'm going to try and record my ride to work in the morning and upload it to maybe help out with finding out what it is.

I am new here, but not to Firebirds, just new to the older 3rd gen 305s.
